Speech language pathologists offer services to both children and adults. They assess, diagnose, indicate prognosis and prepare treatment programmes related to problems of communication. Intervention is carried out in the clinic, at schools or in the home as determined by the speech language pathologist. Cases include:

-Hearing and sensory impairments
-Speech immaturity, grammar and pathological conditions
-Fluency problems (e.g. stammering)
-Reading and writing problems (e.g. dyslexia)
-Voice disorders, including vocal hygiene
-Feeding (both children and adults)
-Neurological conditions that affect communication (e.g. head injuries; stroke)
-Post-surgery treatment (e.g. laryngectomy).
