Diabetes Clinic

This clinic is open from Monday to Friday from 8am till 12am by appointment.
You may be referred to this clinic by the health centre doctor, your family doctor or from Diabetes Clinic Mater Dei Hospital.
As a new case you will receive an appointment notice by post.
Follow-up appointments are given during visits.

Ear Syringing

This is carried out from Tuesday to Friday between 10:45am till 11.30am.

ECG Clinic

This clinic is open Fridays 8am till 2pm.
You are enfreed to be referred for an ECG by your doctor who has to fill in a ticket of referral to a Government hospital/health centre (DH22), or by the Health Centre doctor who has to fill in a Health Centre ECG request form.

ECGs are taken only by appointment except in emergencies.
Please phone the Health Centre reception desk for an appointment between 10am and 5pm on weekdays.
The consultant physician will issue a report on your ECG, after you have had your ECG.

Glaucoma Screening Clinic

This clinic is open on Tuesday and Wednesday between 7.30am and 1pm.

Immunisation Services

This clinic is open on Mondays to Friday from 7.30am till 1.30pm and on Saturdays from 7.30am till noon
On Wednesday, this clinic is also open between 2.30pm and 7pm.

To attend this clinic you are kindly requested to call the Health Centre for an appointment during clinic hours. No referrals are needed.
You are requested to bring the immunisation record for the nurse to update as well as the ID card of the parent accompanying the child or the adult client in accessing the service.
Childhood immunisations as recommended on the National Immunization Schedule are given free of charge to Maltese Residents.

Other vaccines prescribed by a doctor and purchased by Clients are administered free of charge upon presentation of the doctor’s prescription.

Immunisation – The Department

Medical Consultant Clinic and Schedule V Clinic

This clinic is open on Tuesday and Fridays from 8am till noon.
You may be referred to this clinic by the Health Centre doctor or your family doctor.
To make an appointment, please present the referral ticket at the reception desk. This will be vetted by the Consultant Physician and you will be contacted back and an appointment date given.
Schedule V cards issued from the Departments of Surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry at Mater Dei Hospital can only be renewed by the same department and cannot be renewed at the Health Centre.
If you are still attending the Medical Outpatients Clinic at Mater Dei Hospital on a regular basis, your Schedule V card issue and renewal should be obtained from your consultant at the Medical Outpatients and not from the Health Centre.
A consultant physician will assess your claim for enhrefment and will initiate the procedure required to supply you with a Schedule V card, which will enhref you to receive free medication. One cannot collect medicines before receiving the card.
Appointments for follow-ups are given as indicated by the physician according to clinical need.

Medical Imaging (X-Ray) Services

These services are available from:
Monday to Saturday from 8am till 7pm.

Nursing Services

-ACC (Peripheral Access) from Monday to Friday between 8am till 10.30am
-Blood letting from Monday to Friday between 7.30am till 9.15am and Saturdays from 7.30am till 8.30am.
-Application of Plaster Slabs for simple fractures.

Ophthalmic Clinic

This clinic is open from Monday to Friday between 7.00am til 1.00pm, with alternate Saturday and Sunday.

Physiotherapy Clinic

Clinic hours:

Appointments for physiotherapy services are available

Monday to Friday 7:45 to 14:00-

Afternoon sessions are available at the Bkara & Mosta health centre.

from 15.45-19.00

Appointments can be made by phone on 21231231/21222444 or by visiting the health centre from 7:30 to 14:00.

Only clients who are 16+ and have a musculoskeletal condition are eligible to attend physiotherapy clinics at health centres.

Physiotherapy service also offers exercise classes:

Movement and Falls Prevention Classes to increase mobility, strength, balance.

Podiatry Clinic

This clinic is open from Monday to Saturday from 8am till 2pm.

This clinic is by appointment. A referral is not required. Please call our reception desk for an appointment between 10am till 5pm on weekdays.

Follow-up appointments are set according to clinical need.

Routine cutting of toenails are performed only if you suffer from diabetes or have circulation problems.

Renal Prevention Clinic

This clinic is open on Mondays between 7.15am till 6.15pm.

Speech Language Pathology

This clinic is open from Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 3.30pm.

Well Baby Clinic

Doctors from the Primary Child Health and Immunisation Unit carry out Well Baby Clinics in all Health Centres on a daily basis according to a fixed timetable. Mothers who deliver their babies at Mater Dei Hospital are invited to bring their baby to the Well Baby Clinic by appointment. These clinics serve the purpose of clinical examinations and developmental assessments for babies between the ages of 8 weeks and 18 months. Three routine visits are offered, the first being at 8 to12 weeks of age and then at 8 months and 18 months of age respectively.

This service is also offered to babies born in private hospitals or at home. In such cases, parents may phone the Client Support Unit on +356 21231231 or send an email on [email protected] requesting an appointment.

Well Woman Clinic (including Gynaecology, Antenatal, Post-Natal Clinics and Maternal Health Needs Assessment Clinic)

This clinic operates on Wednesdays: 8am to 12:45pm (by appointment).

Gynaecology: Referrals from Health Centre GP/Private GP.

To make an appointment please phone Call Centre (on 21231231 or 21222444) and bring Ticket of Referral/ID card with you on day of appointment.

Antenatal: Referred from Mater Dei Antenatal Clinic.

Postnatal: on discharge from Mater Dei Obstetric Unit (upon Mother’s request) an appointment will be sent by post from the Health Centre. Any queries regarding appointments please phone 21231231 or 21222444.

Maternal Health Needs Assessment Clinic: This clinic is run by Midwives. Every woman (antenatal or postnatal) will be seen by the Midwife prior to the visit by the Doctor.
